Kirin Capital explores collaboration opportunities with VPBank and its securities company

On April 25th, 2022, Ms. Duong Thuy – Director of the Financial Investment Project at Kirin Capital, along with other members of the company, welcomed Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc – Head of Investor Relations at Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPB) and VPBank Securities Joint Stock Company (VPBankS) delegation.

During the meeting, VPB representatives shared about their unique business model that creates superior advantages, business highlights in 2022, and the strategic vision of the bank for the 2022-2026 period.

Currently, VPB is the largest private bank in the system and owns a comprehensive and versatile ecosystem, including the consumer finance company FE Credit, non-life insurance company OPES, and an exclusive partnership agreement with AIA life insurance company, VPBankS securities company, as well as fintech – digital banking ecosystem such as Cake, Be, and LynkID that meet all customers’ financial service needs.

Furthermore, at the beginning of 2023, VPBank also signed a private placement agreement for 15% of its charter capital with strategic partner SMBC – one of the largest financial groups in Japan, expected to earn 35.9 trillion VND, increasing the bank’s shareholder equity to approximately 140 trillion VND, becoming one of the two banks with the largest shareholder equity in the market.

The cooperation with SMBC will help VPBank exploit the experiences in management and digital transformation of this group besides accessing cheap international capital sources and expanding to FDI customer portfolios. In addition, the strong capital platform and outstanding business results have created conditions for VPBank to carry out cash dividend payments in 2023 with an expected rate of 10% (1,000 VND/share).

These bright spots were also emphasized by experts of VPBankS in the investment opportunity in VPB when the current stock is at an attractive discount.

Within the framework of the meeting, Kirin Capital representatives also shared about the investment situation and highlighted the investment strategy of the company. Ms. Duong Thuy also openly shared about the opportunity for cooperation with VPB and VPBankS in the coming period.

The meeting ended in a solemn and joyful atmosphere, opening up the potential for cooperation and leveraging the strengths of the parties in the future.
